DEVOTIONS

The nine consecutive Fridays in reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Our Lord appeared to St. Margaret Mary Alocoque (1647-1690), a French nun in the Visitation Order, and gave her the special task to spread devotion to His Most Sacred Heart at a time when religion was growing cold in the hearts of mankind.

For those who did this faithfully, he made what St. Margaret Mary referred to as the “Great Promise”.

“I promise you in the unfathomable mercy of my heart that my omnipotent love will procure the grace of final penitence for all those who receive communion on nine successive first Fridays of the month; they will not die in my disfavor [the grace of final repentance], or without having received the sacraments, since my divine heart will be their sure refuge in the last moments of their life.”

The Church invites the faithful to enter more deeply into the mystery of God's love through the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

On First Friday, we honor the Sacred Heart of Jesus by participating in Holy Mass, receiving Holy Communion worthily, spending time in Eucharistic Adoration, and offering acts of reparation for sins committed against His loving Heart.

On First Saturday, we respond to the Blessed Virgin Mary's request at Fatima by making reparation to her Immaculate Heart through Confession. Holy Communion, praying five decades of the Rosary, and meditating for fifteen minutes on its mysteries. May these beautiful devotions renew our faith, deepen our love for Christ and His Blessed Mother, and inspire us to live lives of holiness, prayer, and charity. As we entrust ourselves, our families, our nation, and the whole world to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, may we receive God's abundant mercy, lasting peace, and countless graces.

NINE FIRST FRIDAYS

DEVOTION

When Our Lord appeared to Saint Margaret Mary in 1673, He promised to grant the following favors to all those who practiced devotion to His Sacred Heart:

12 Promises of the Sacred Heart to St. Margaret Mary:

1) I will give them all the graces necessary for their state of life.

2) I will give peace in their families.

3) I will console them in all their troubles.

4) I will be their refuge in life and especially in death.

5) I will abundantly bless all their undertakings.

6) Sinners shall find in my Heart the source and infinite ocean of mercy.

7) Tepid souls shall become fervent.

8) Fervent souls shall rise speedily to great perfection.

9) I will bless those places wherein the image of my Sacred Heart shall be exposed and venerated.

10) I will give to priests the power to touch the most hardened hearts.

11) Persons who propagate this devotion shall have their names eternally written in my Heart.

12) In the excess of the mercy of my heart, I promise you that my all powerful love will grant to all those who will receive Communion on the First Fridays, for nine consecutive months, the grace of final repentance: they will not die in my displeasure, nor without receiving the sacraments; and my Heart will be their secure refuge in that last hour.

A veritable treasure chest of spiritual gems! And what does He ask of us in return?

How to complete the Nine First Fridays Devotion:

On the first Friday of nine consecutive months:

1. Receive Holy Communion on each of the First Fridays; Note: If you have knowledge that you are not in a state of Sanctifying Grace (that is, you are knowledgeable of mortal sin(s) on your soul, and thus unable to receive Holy Communion) you will also need to go to Confession prior to receiving your Holy Communion on the First Friday.

2. The nine first Fridays must be consecutive;

3. They must be made in honor of and in reparation to His Sacred Heart for all the blasphemies, outrages, sacrileges, and indifferences committed against it.

FIVE FIRST SATURDAY DEVOTION

The five consecutive Saturdays in reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

The practice of the First Saturday devotion was requested by Our Lady of Fatima, who appeared to three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal, multiple times starting in 1917.

She said to Lucia, the oldest of the three children:

“I shall come to ask . . . that on the First Saturday of every month, Communions of reparation be made in atonement for the sins of the world.”

Years later she repeated her request to Sr. Lucia, the only one still living of the three young Fatima seers, while she was a postulant sister living in a convent in Spain:

“Look, my daughter, at my Heart, surrounded with thorns with which ungrateful men pierce me at very moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude. You at least try to console me, and say that I promise to assist at the hour of death, with the graces necessary for salvation, all those who, on the first Saturday of five consecutive months, shall confess, receive Holy Communion, recite five decades of the rosary, and keep me company for 15 minutes while meditating on the 15 mysteries of the rosary, with the intention of making reparation to me.”

► In December of 1925, Our Lady appeared to Sister Lucia, giving her the following guaranty of salvation for those who complete the First Five Saturdays Devotion: “I promise to assist them at the hour of death with all the graces necessary for the salvation of their souls."

Why Five Saturdays?

The five first Saturdays correspond to the five kinds of offenses and blasphemies committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary:

1) Blasphemies against the Immaculate Conception.

2) Blasphemies against her virginity.

3) Blasphemies against her divine maternity, at the same time the refusal to accept her as the Mother of all men.

4) Instilling indifference, scorn and even hatred towards this Immaculate Mother in the hearts of children.

5) Direct insults against Her sacred images.

How to complete the Five First Saturdays Devotion:

On the first Saturday of five consecutive months:

1. Go to confession;

2. Receive Holy Communion;

3. Say five decades of the Rosary;

4. Keep Our Lady company for 15 minutes, meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary;

5. Have the intention of making reparation to Our Lady for the offenses listed above

► On February 1926, the Child Jesus appeared to Lucia asking her if she promoted the devotion to our Blessed Mother. Lucia talked about the difficulties she encountered in order to fulfill this mission. Jesus responded that His grace is sufficient…Our Lord Himself says: "Have compassion for your Mother's Heart. It is surrounded with thorns that ungrateful men pierce at each moment, and there is no one who does acts of reparation to remove them."

GREATER DIFFICULTY, GREATER REWARD

While keeping up with these devotions over five or nine consecutive months is not easy, the reward for making the effort is eternal. Look again at those promises from Jesus and Mary.

My God, I offer You this Rosary for Your glory, so I can honor your Holy Mother, the Blessed Virgin, so I can share and meditate upon her suffering. I humbly beg you to give me true repentance for all my sins. Give me wisdom and humility, so that I may receive all the indulgences contained in this prayer.
Act of Contrition
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You, and I detest all my sins because I dread the loss of Heaven and the pains of hell; but most of all because they offend You, my God, You Who are all good and deserving of all my love. THE FIRST SORROW-THE PROPHECY OF SIMEON.

When the time came for their purification according to the law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord.

Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.
He took Jesus up in his arms and blessed God and said, "Lord, now let thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word;
for mine eyes have seen thy salvation which thou hast prepared in the presence of all peoples.
And his father and his mother marveled at what was said about him; and Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, "Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign that is spoken against,and a sword will pierce through your own soul also, that thoughts out of many hearts may be revealed."

THE SECOND SORROW: THE FLIGHT INTO EGYPT.

Behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Rise, take the child and his mother and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you, for Herod is about to search for the child to destroy him.” And he rose and took the child and his mother by night and departed to Egypt and remained there until the death of Herod.

THE THIRD SORROW: THE LOSS OF THE CHILD JESUS IN THE TEMPLE.

And when Jesus was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem as usual for the festival. When the days were completed, as they were returning, the boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, but his parents did not know it. Thinking that he was in the caravan, they journeyed for a day and looked for him among their relatives and acquaintances, but not finding him, they returned to Jerusalem to look for him. After three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions, and all who heard him were astounded at his understanding and his answers. When his parents saw him, they were astonished, and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been looking for you with great anxiety.” And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” But they did not understand what he said to them.

Then he went with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them. His mother treasured all these things in her heart.

THE FOURTH SORROW: MARY MEETS JESUS ON THE WAY TO CALVARY

With loud shouts, however, they persisted in calling for his crucifixion, and their voices prevailed. The verdict of Pilate was that their demand should be granted. So he released the man who had been imprisoned for rebellion and murder, for whom they asked, and he handed Jesus over to them to deal with as they wished. As they led him away they took hold of a certain Simon, a Cyrenian, who was coming in from the country; and after laying the cross on him, they made him carry it behind Jesus. A large crowd of people followed Jesus, including many women who mourned and lamented him.

THE FIFTH SORROW: JESUS DIES ON THE CROSS

Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.
After this, aware that everything was now finished, in order that the scripture might be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I thirst.” There was a vessel filled with common wine. So they put a sponge soaked in wine on a sprig of hyssop and put it up to his mouth. When Jesus had taken the wine, he said, “It is finished.” Then Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, "Father, into thy hands I commit my spirit!" And having said this he breathed his last.

THE SIXTH SORROW: MARY RECEIVES THE DEAD BODY OF JESUS IN HER ARMS

So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and then of the other one who was crucified with Jesus. But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs, but one soldier thrust his lance into his side, and immediately blood and water flowed out.

Jesus is taken down from the cross and His body is placed in Mary's arms. The passion and death are over, but for His mother, grief continues. She holds His body in her arms. Then they took the body of Jesus and bound it with burial cloths along with the spices, according to the Jewish burial custom.

THE SEVENTH SORROW: THE BODY OF JESUS IS PLACED IN THE TOMB.

Now in the place where he had been crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had yet been buried. So they laid Jesus there because of the Jewish preparation day; for the tomb was close by. The most tragic day in history ends, Mary alone in sorrow, awaiting the Resurrection.

Queen of Martyrs, your heart suffered so much. I beg you, by the merits of the tears you shed in these terrible and sorrowful times, to obtain for me and all the sinners of the world the grace of complete sincerity and repentance. Amen.

PROMISES OF OUR LADY OF SORROWS:
These are the seven promises Our Lady made through St. Bridget of Sweden, to those who are devoted to meditating on her Seven Sorrows:

1. I will grant peace to their families.

2. They will be enlightened about the Divine Mysteries.
3. I will console them in their pains and I will accompany them in their work.
4. I will give them as much as they ask for as long as it does not oppose the adorable will of my Divine Son or the sanctification of their souls.
5. I will defend them in their spiritual battles with the infernal enemy and I will protect them at every instant of their lives.
6. I will visibly help them at the moment of their death. They will see the face of their Mother.
7. I have obtained this grace from my divine Son, that those who propagate this devotion to my tears and suffering, will be taken directly from this earthly life to eternal happiness since all their sins will be forgiven and my Son and I will be their eternal consolation and joy.

My adorable Jesus,

May our feet journey together.

May our hands gather in unity

May our heart beat in unison.

May our souls be in harmony.

May our thoughts be as one.

May our ears listen to the silence together.

May our glances profoundly penetrate each other.

May our lips pray together to gain mecy from the Eternal Father.

Jesus said, "Through this prayer, Satan will be blind and souls will not be led into sin.

The Lord explained. "Satan being blind signifies a worldwide triumph of my Sacred Heart, the freedom of souls and a full opening of the road of savation."

A Prayer to Honor the Shoulder Wound of Christ | How shredded and agonizing the shoulder of the Lord must have been on that day from bearing the weight of the heavy cross to Calvary. This is a prayer honoring the shoulder wound of Jesus. Both Saint Padre Pio and Saint Bernard of Clairvaux had a sincere devotion to Christ’s shoulder wound.

O Loving Jesus, meek Lamb of God, I, a miserable sinner, salute and worship the most Sacred Wound of The Shoulder on which Thou didst bear Thy heavy Cross, which so tore Thy flesh and laid bare Thy Bones as to inflict on Thee an anguish greater than any other wound of Thy Most Blessed Body. I adore Thee, O Jesus most sorrowful; I praise and glorify Thee, and give Thee thanks for this most sacred and painful Wound, beseeching Thee by that exceeding pain, and by the crushing burden of Thy heavy Cross to be merciful to me, a sinner, to forgive me all my mortal and venial sins, and to lead me on towards Heaven along the Way of Thy Cross. Con nài xin Chúa, nhờ nỗi đau đớn khôn tả ấy và nhờ gánh nặng đè nghiến của cây Thánh Giá, xin hãy thương xót con là kẻ tội lỗi; xin tha thứ cho con mọi tội trọng và tội nhẹ, và xin dẫn dắt con tiến về Thiên Đàng trên Đường Thánh Giá của Chúa. KINH ĐỨC CHÚA THÁNH THẦN

Chúng con lạy ơn Đức Chúa Thánh Thần thiêng liêng sáng láng vô cùng. Chúng con xin Đức Chúa Thánh Thần xuống, đầy lòng chúng con là kẻ tin cậy Đức Chúa Trời, và đốt lửa kính mến Đức Chúa Trời trong lòng chúng con; Chúng con xin Đức Chúa Trời cho Đức Chúa Thánh Thần xuống, sửa lại mọi sự trong ngoài chúng con.

Chúng con cầu cùng Đức Chúa Trời, xưa đã cho Đức Chúa Thánh Thần xuống soi lòng dậy dỗ các Thánh Tông Đồ, thì rầy chúng con cũng xin Đức Chúa Trời cho Đức Chúa Thánh Thần lại xuống, yên ủi dạy dỗ chúng con làm những việc lành, vì công nghiệp vô cùng Đức Chúa Giêsu Kitô là Chúa chúng con. Amen.

KINH TIN KÍNH

Tôi tin Kính Đức Chúa Trời là Cha phép tắc vô cùng dựng nên trời đất. Tôi tin Kính Đức Chúa Giêsu Kitô là Con một Đức Chúa Cha cùng là Chúa chúng tôi, bởi phép Đức Chúa Thánh Thần mà Người xuống thai, sinh bởi Bà Maria đồng trinh, chịu nạn đời Phongxiô Philatô, chịu đóng đinh trên cây thánh giá, chết và táng xác, xuống ngục tổ tông, ngày thứ ba bởi trong kẻ chết mà sống lại, lên trời ngự bên hữu Đức Chúa Cha phép tắc vô cùng, ngày sau bởi trời lạ xuống phán xét kẻ sống và kẻ chết

KINH LẠY CHA

Lạy Cha chúng con ở trên trời, chúng con nguyện Danh Cha cả sáng, nước Cha trị đến, ý Cha thể hiện dưới đất cũng như trên trời, xin Cha cho chúng con hôm nay lương thực hằng ngày, và tha nợ chúng con, như chúng con cũng tha kẻ có nợ chúng con, xin chớ để chúng con sa trước cám dỗ, nhưng cứu chúng con cho khỏi sự dữ. Amen

3. KINH KÍNH MỪNG

Kính mừng Maria đầy ơn phúc Đức Chúa Trời ở cùng Bà, Bà có phúc lạ hơn mọi người nữ và Giêsu con lòng Bà cùng phúc lạ .

Thánh Maria Đức Mẹ Chúa Trời cầu cho chúng con là kẻ có tội khi ngày và trong giờ lâm tử Amen .

Lạy Chúa Giêsu! Xin tha tội cho chúng con. Xin cứu chúng con khỏi sa hỏa ngục. Xin đem các linh hồn lên Thiên Đàng. Nhất là những linh hồn cần đến lòng Chúa thương xót hơn.

KINH LẠY NỮ VƯƠNG

Lạy Nữ Vương, Mẹ nhân lành, làm cho chúng con được sống, được vui, được cậy, thân lạy Mẹ, chúng con, con cháu Evà, ở chốn khách đầy kêu đến cùng Bà. Chúng con ở nơi khóc lóc than thở kêu khẩn Bà thương. Hỡi ơi! Bà là Chúa bầu chúng con, xin ghé mặt thương xem chúng con đến sau khỏi đầy. Xin cho chúng con được thấy Ðức Chúa Giêsu, con lòng Bà gồm phúc lạ. Ôi khoan thay, nhân thay, dịu thay Thánh Maria trọn đời đồng trinh. Amen.

KINH CÁM ƠN

Con cảm ơn Ðức Chúa Trời là Chúa lòng lành vô cùng, chẳng bỏ con, chẳng để con không đời đời mà lại sinh ra con, cho con được làm người, cùng hằng gìn giữ con, hằng che chở con, lại cho Ngôi Hai xuống thế làm người, chuộc tội chịu chết trên cây Thánh Giá vì con, lại cho con được đạo Thánh Ðức Chúa Trời, cùng chịu nhiều ơn nhiều phép Hội Thánh nữa, và đã cho phần xác con ngày hôm nay được mọi sự lành; lại cứu lấy con kẻo phải chết tươi ăn năn tội chẳng kịp. Vậy các Thánh ở trên nước Thiên Ðàng, cảm ơn Ðức Chúa Trời thể nào, thì con cũng hợp cùng các Thánh mà dâng cho Chúa con cùng cảm ơn như vậy. Amen.

KINH TRÔNG CẬY

Chúng con trông cậy rất thánh Đức Mẹ Chúa Trời, xin chớ chê chớ bỏ lời chúng con nguyện trong cơn gian nan thiếu thốn, Đức Nữ đồng trinh, hiển vinh sáng láng.

Lạy Mẹ Maria! Tràng Hoa Mân Côi này là những Mầu Nhiệm con suy ngẫm về cả cuộc đời của Chúa Giêsu, từ khi Chúa sinh xuống gian trần cho đến khi Chúa trút hơi thở cuối cùng trên thập giá. Để đền đạp lại tình yêu vô bờ bến mà Chúa đã dành cho loài người chúng con. Con cúi xin Mẹ rủ lòng thương và trợ giúp chúng con, biết sống đẹp lòng Chúa ngay ở đời này, để ngày sau chúng con được hưởng phúc cùng Chúa và Mẹ trên nước Thiên Đàng. Amen!

Lời Nguyện

Lạy Đức Trinh Nữ Maria. Con biết Mẹ luôn yêu thương chúng con. Và chúng con cũng yêu mẹ. Mẹ là tất cả của con, và con là tất cả của mẹ. Có con là có mẹ, có mẹ là có con. Một trong ba mệnh lệnh Fatima là “tôn sùng Mẫu Tâm.” Trong các lần hiện ra, Đức Mẹ luôn nhắc nhở việc cải tà quy chánh, canh tân đời sống để được Thiên Chúa cứu độ. Đó cũng là điều Chúa Giêsu luôn đề cập khi Ngài còn tại thế.

Yêu mến Đức Mẹ bằng cách nào? Đơn giản là lần hạt Mân Côi. Kinh này giản dị mà hiệu quả, đặc biệt là có thể cầu kinh bất cứ lúc nào trong ngày – ngồi chờ xe, đi dạo, đi xe,... Có thể là một chục kinh, hai chục kinh, không thành vấn đề, quan trọng là chân thành “tâm sự” với Mẹ.

Thánh Piô Năm Dấu khuyên: “Hãy yêu mến Đức Mẹ và hãy lần chuỗi Mân Côi, vì chuỗi Mân Côi là vũ khí chống lại sự dữ trong thế giới ngày nay. Mọi ân sủng đều được Thiên Chúa trao ban qua Đức Mẹ.” Tuyệt vời biết bao!

Thật vậy, trong lần cuối cùng hiện ra với ba trẻ tại Fatima (Bồ Đào Nha), Đức Mẹ đã nhắn nhủ: “Hãy lần chuỗi Mân Côi hằng ngày... Hãy cầu nguyện nhiều và dâng những hy sinh để cầu cho các tội nhân... Ta là Mẹ Mân Côi. Chỉ có Mẹ mới có thể giúp các con. Cuối cùng, Trái tim Vô nhiễm của Mẹ sẽ thắng.” Không gì tốt lành và chắc chắn hơn là “nhờ Mẹ đến với Chúa Giêsu.”

Lạy Thiên Chúa toàn năng hằng hữu, Chúa đã muốn Ðấng Cứu Thế mặc lấy xác phàm và chịu khổ hình thập giá để nêu gương khiêm nhường cho nhân loại bắt chước, xin thương ban cho chúng con biết noi theo bài học nhẫn nhục của Người, và được thông phần sự sống lại của Người. Nhờ Ðức Giêsu Kitô, Con Chúa, Chúa chúng con, là Thiên Chúa hằng sống hằng trị cùng Chúa làm một với Chúa Thánh Thần muôn đời. Amen!

Thiên Chúa luôn yêu thương loài người, và Ngài luôn giang tay rộng mở để chờ đợi chúng ta trở về với Chúa....Hỡi những ai lầm đường lạc lối...Hãy mau trở về với Hội Thánh của Người.
